She’s witty, fierce and feisty. She occasionally makes an appearance on work video calls. Her most recent appearance was announcing she needed help buttoning her pants (during a meeting with the boss while I forgot to turn off the mic and say “GET OUT!”)…not embarrassing at all! But she is sure to brighten a day. My daughter Sky is a constant reminder to just be yourself, be fearless, take a WoMEnt (at any age) and wear any outfit with confidence.
September 2021: The morning was no different than any other chaotic morning. Roll out of bed, try to get a workout in, the battle to get kids awake and ready for school…all and all, the usual. The one pleasant surprise was that my 5-year-old fearless kindergartner (AKA The Pink Tornado…we are in Iowa now after all) wanted to get herself ready for school.
And “The Bad Mom of the Year Award” Goes to….
It was later that day, after a full day of school, her grandma commented that something was off about her outfit. Hmmm, her pants are definitely on backwards. Yep, I sent my kid to school with backwards booty jean shorts, that just happened. She went all day like that, but she wore those shorts with confidence, like a BOSS! A couple of years ago I would have been so embarrassed, I couldn’t help but laugh this one off.
Fast forward to 2023: Not a thing has changed, this girl is turning 7 soon and I’m starting to wonder if it’s 17 instead! We ventured out to the fair and I think she’s a farm girl at heart. I told her the outfit was maybe a little extra, but she thought she probably needed a pink cowgirl hat too. God help me!
