Thousand Dollar Rims on my Minivan

Me, own a minivan?  Never!  That’s what I said about ten years ago.  A lot changes in ten years.  We all have so many memories in our cars, it’s amazing how much time you spend with your car.  So many WOMENTS are experienced in your ride, but I’ll save that for another post.

Today, I’m talking about my minivan.  I LOVE MY MINIVAN!  Pre-children, I swore them off.  I always said, “I’ll never be that crazy mom cruzin’ around in a white minivan!”  The twins came along and I remember being completely crammed in our Dodge Avenger and old Chrysler Sebring at the time.

There was hard reality to face, we needed to go to something bigger.  Being stubborn, I still refused the minivan.  The Ford Explorer was great at the time. Secure, dependable, great on a snowy day, but I thought I was going to die every time I had to load and unload 20 plus pounds of kid…times two… twice a day.  Climbing up and down, wedging myself between seats.  It was like playing a game of twister every time I left the house with the kids.  Then, it happened.  I finally caved…I admitted to my husband that it was time to start looking…for the minivan.

The first time I sat behind the wheel of my black Chrysler Town and Country, I didn’t exactly feel like the hottest mom in the world, but there was an epiphany!  My knees aren’t in the steering wheel, I don’t have to turn into the incredible hulk to get babies in the car, the thing was like a spaceship on wheels, simply push a button to open a sliding side door…what!?  It was amazing!  I had a WOMENT right then and there, my minivan was AWESOME!

When it was time to retire the Town and Country, I fondly remembered all of the times I had pumped breast milk behind the wheel, turned to yell…”stop touching each other!”, “knock it off!”, or the best…simply tuning everything out with the music turned way up.  I have since graduated to the Pacifica, also a new love in my life, but absolutely never..ever…a white minivan.  A girl has to draw the line somewhere.

The day the Pacifica became part of the family.
